While IDE are powerful and essential for UX app design and development, I’m still enjoy the quick and simple “vi” editor for server code. It has always been there when I need it.
I just learned a new (to me) trick in vi – intention using the < and > keys.
- Type “>” to indent the current line in, “<” to indent out.
- Type the number of lines followed by > to indent in that number of lines. Add more >>> to add more intention.
- From the “:” command, type in the range of lines and a > to indent those lines.
Quick and simple.
